Global Potato Conclave: 2020 is jointly organised by ICAR, New Delhi; CPRI, Simla and Indian Potato Association, Simla with SDAU as a partner at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat from January 28-31, 2020. Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi addressed the gathering through video conferencing on 28. 1. 2020. The conclave witnessed the august presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Sh. Vijay Rupani; Hon. Union minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, GoI, Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar ; Hon. State minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, GoI, Sh. Purushottam Rupala; Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR, Hon. State minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, GoG; Dr. T. Mahapatra: The main objective of the global events was brain storming on current issues and the latest developments on Germplam management & Next generation breeding; Climate change, Biotechnology & Omics; Artificial intelligence and ICT; Potato pests and diseases management; Post harvest management and value addition; Advances in seed technology among stake holders including academicians, industrialist, administrator, farmers, traders and input dealers etc., Agri- Expo exhibition is also organised during 28-30 January, 2020 to showcase the status of potato based industries, processing of potato and alike in about 150 stalls. The technologies are exhibited by various ICAR institutes, International Potato Centre, SAUs, NABARD, Food processing industries, seed/pesticides/fertiliser producers etc. In the AgriExpo exhibition, SDAU has also showcased its research and technologies through three exhibition stall by demonstrating live specimen also. A field day is also arranged on 31.1.2020 at village Chandrala, Ta & Dist. Gandhinagar in which more than 3000 farmers participated. During field day, live demonstration of various varieties of potato, its technologies as well as demonstration of farm machineries production chain of potato. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Patel also guided the concerned scientists for organization of event, also visited and interacted with national and international scientist.
