National webinar on "Current scenario and future strategies for management parasites in animals"

Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary College, S.D. Agricultural University, organised two-days National webinar on "Current scenario and future strategies for management parasites in animals" on 28-29th, July, 2020. The programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Vice-chancellor Dr. R.K. Patel. He emphasised the importance of parasitic disease and its significance in production loss of livestock. Dr. D. V. Joshi, Dean & Principal, Veterinary College welcomed all the expert speakers and participantsand congratulated the organizing team for conducting a national webinar in the subject of Veterinary Parasitology for the first time in India. Dr. H.R. Parsani, Organizing Secretary addressed the participants on the theme of the topic. Invited speakers, Dr. P.S. Banerjee, Principal Scientist and Station Incharge Eastern Campus, ICAR-IVRI, Kolkata, Dr. M.L. Gatne Rtd. University Head & Professor, Mumbai Veterinary College Dr. Srikanta Ghosh, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Parasitology, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar and Dr. Muthu Sankar, Senior Scientist, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar delivered excellent lectures on the updates in the relevant field of Parasitology. It was a fruitful attempt to create a common platform for idea exchange. The webinar received overwhelming response with 777 registered participants from all over the India. To create enthusiasm among students, an online    ‘SDAU Veterinary Parasitology Quiz Competition’ has also been organised on the occasion for which around 750 students have been registered. The winners of the quiz competition in Undergraduate and Post-graduate category was declared and congratulated by Dr. D. V. Joshi, Dean & Principal, Veterinary College.  The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Co-Organizing Secretary, Dr. Shyma K.P., Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology.
