National Webinar on “Recent Advances in Seed Spices Production” organized by Seed Spices Research Station, SDAU, Jagudan

National Webinar on “Recent Advances in Seed Spices Production” organised by Seed Spices Research Station, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Jagudan organised on 4 August, 2020. The online Webinar received excellent response with 1287 registered participants from all over the country. Among them 240 plus participants continuously remain joined during the Webinar. At  beginnings, Dr. N. R. Patel, Organizing Secretary explained the outline of the programme. Dr. R.N.Singh, Director of Research and Dean P.G.Studies  welcomed all the invited speakers and participants and briefed the role of Seed Spices Research Station in the varietal and technological development in seed spices. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Patel in his inaugural speech highlighted the share of Gujarat in seed spices production and  export at National and International level. Moreover he stated that there are huge scopes for employment generation through these seed spices crops in rual as well urban areas and congratulated, Webinar Chairman and Head, SSRS  Dr. A. U. Amin and Organizing Secretary Dr. N. R. Patel, Associate Research Scientist (Pl.Path.) for organising first ever online National Webinar in the subject of seed spices in the country. Among Invited well known speakers, Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, National Research Centre, ICAR, Tabiji, Ajmer (Rajasthan) has delivered an excellent talk on “Seed Spices as an Industry”. He narrated huge scope of industrial development through seed spices crops. Dr. Santhos J. Eapen, Director, Indian Institute of Spices Research, ICAR, Calicut, Kerala delivered interactive theme based lecture on “An overview on Seed Spices-The Indian Scenario” and briefed the area, production and productivity scenario of seed spices in the country. Another lecture was delivered by Dr. Homey Cheriyan, Director, Directorate of Arecanuts and Spices Development (DASD), Ministry of Agriculture, Calicut, Kerala. He explained the whole scenario and prospectus of export of seed spices in the country and also briefed the export potential of seed spices. Dr. A. U. Amin, Research Scientist (Spices) delivered the informative talk on Agro-technical  Approaches for Enhancement of Seed Spices Production. Dr. A. M. Patel, Assoc. Res. Sci. (Pl. Br), Jagudan delivered very elaborative talk on “Maintenance Breeding and Seed Production of Seed Spices”. Dr. K. I. Patel , Assoc. Res. Sci. (Agron), Jagudan gave an expert lecture on value addition in seed spices. The effective management strategies of pets and diseases in seed spices was narrated by Dr. B. G. Prajapati, Assoc. Res. Sci. (Ag.Ento.), Jagudan.

The National Webinar was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Co-Organizing Secretary, Surbhi Chauhan, Assistant Professor, SSRS, Jagudan.
