A national webinar entitled “Market Intelligence and Export Potential in Horticulture Sector” was organized by the Department Social Science, College of Horticulture, Jagudan on 14thOctober, 2020. The webinar received excellent response with 900registered participants from different parts of the country. Out of the registered candidate, around 300 participants continuously remained present online during the webinar. At the initiation, Dr. R. S. Jaiman, Convener presented outline of the webinar. On behalf of Dr. A. U. Amin, Principal & Dean of the College, Sh. J. R. Vadodariya welcomed Dr. R.K. Patel, Hon’bleVice-Chancellor of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Dr. R. N. Singh, Director of Research & Dean P. G. Studies, Dr. K. K. Patel,Registrar, Dr. Dr. V. T. Patel, Director Extension Education, all the invited speakers and participants. Dr. R.K. Patel, Hon’bleVice-Chancellor of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, focused on production and export status of horticultural crops in India.He also discussed on price fluctuation due to imperfect coordination between demandandsupplieswhich, in turn is characterised by seasonality and perishable nature of the horticulture crops. Moreover, he emphasized to overcome the constraints linked to the seasonality, perishability and price fluctuation, it is of paramount importance to leverage the market intelligence information, so that farmers get right amount of return for their produce and value chain can become more sustainable.He congratulated, Dr. A. U. Amin, Principal and Dean, Dr. R. S. Jaiman, Convener, Dr. Laxmi R. Dubey, Organizing Secretary and all the staff of the Department of Social Science for planning and executing of the National webinar on the need-based theme.

Among the eminent speakers Dr.S. S. Burark, Emeritus Professor- ICAR and Former Director Research,Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology(MPUA&T) Udaipuremphasized on the different marketing strategies required to boost the export potential and to bring a make shift change in horticulture sector. Dr. Raka Saxena, Principal Scientist- National Institute of Agricultural Economics & Policy Research (NIAP), ICAR, New Delhiexpressed her views on price volatility and growth prospects in context to the horticultural sector.

Dr. Narendra Singh, Professor & Head, Department of Agril. Economics, N.M. College of Agriculture, NAU, Navsari, elaborated the different technical aspects of horticultural marketing in India.  Dr. K. P. Thakar, I/C Professor & Head, Department of Agril. Economics, C.P. College of Agriculture, SDAU, Sardarkrushinagarhighlighted on need of quality improvement of seed spices to boost their export potential from the country. Dr. Renjini V. R., Scientist, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), ICAR-New Delhi,delivered her talk on current status and prospects for exports of fruits.Dr. Laxmi R. Dubey, Assistant Professor (Agril. Economics), College of Horticulture, Jagudan also delivered an informative lecture on eNAM (Electronic National Agricultural Market) amid COVID 19 situation.

This event was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by co-organizing secretary, Sh. R. I. Prajapati, Assistant Professor (Agril. Statistics), Department of Social Science, College of Horticulture, Jagudan.
