Considering intellectuality as an asset in IPR driven era, the Central Library was initiated right with the establishment of the University in a school building in 1976 and was shifted to present building in 2000. The library functions from 800 hrs to 1900 hrs with a total surface area of 3238.90 sq. mt having reading room facilities and carpet area of stack room of 936.85 sq. mt and 545.14 sq. mt, respectively. The library is the lynch pin of the university for catering the information needs of both students and staff for both lower and higher education besides keeping the scientist and other staff well informed about their subject and other academic matter. The university library is extending the services to the students of all the colleges dabbling in higher education. Besides meeting the major requirements of the students, it also serves the research scientists of the campus as well as all off-campus research stations of the university. Library with adequate books, journals, back volumes and related equipments are pivotal for the development of human resources and needs of the students and faculty. The services are distributed in different sections of the library viz., acquisition, technical, circulation and maintenance of books, periodicals and reference, CD-ROM, computer with internet access and photocopying. The library has computer lab with a capacity of 15 clients besides other 25 computers with connectivity and 14 cubical rooms.
Further work is under progress to establish cyber library, Digital Library to make 18 core libraries of the country accessible by the students and faculty members of the university.
