Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University was established under Gujarat Act 5 of 2004 (Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University Act, 2004) for development of Agriculture including Animal Husbandry and allied sciences in the state of Gujarat.

University is wedded with main three functions in Agricultural Sciences as under.

The Governor of Gujarat is the Chancellor of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is the Principal Executive and academic officer of the university and ex-officio chairman of the Board of Management and the Academic Council.
